Long-Term Experiential Learning Programs (L-TELP)
The concept of a long term experiential learning program (up to 20 days), in a remote location has been well-researched and reported on. It is conclusive that this sort of experience — particularly for boys, but also for girls — has a massive impact on the life of a teenager.
Boomerang Adventures are very pleased to be involved in these programs. The concept of a remote location, with no technology, and the opportunity to build positive relationships, be challenged and live independently, gel together well to provide something very special in the life of a teenager.
These programs have a number of key aspects, some of which are listed below.
Remoteness
Independent living
Decision making, individually and as part of a small group
Expedition — anything up to six days
Solo — both a small daily time for reflection, as well as a 24 hour period camping out
Cultural experiences — working with Central Australian and Top End Communities
Service project
Genuine experiential learning (this is amazing to watch and see unfold)
Shopping and cooking for the small group
Lots of fun
These are just a few of the elements that make up an experience that is like no other. If you would like your students to experience something unique, life-changing, fun, and something words can’t really describe, you need to look into a long-term experiential learning program for your school.
Boomerang Adventures run these programs in Central Australia as well as the Top End of Australia.
